Airplane Seats

Right before I left for San Francisco, I was talking with someone at work about my upcoming flight. I was so happy to be flying United where I'm a Premier Executive member. United is my favorite airline, especially the United P.S. service. The seats are great and you get your own individual personal Panasonic DVD player. Panasonic and the airlines were smart and configured the players to only play specially formatted DVDs so you won't have any real motivation to steal a DVD or the player.

So I was telling my friend all about my upcoming flight and mentioned that I hoped to get a window seat. My friend asked me how I could like window seats. "Because I like to sleep and rest my head against the cabin," I replied. My friend then asked "But don't you get cramped and feel restricted because you can't get out?". I said, "Absolutely not. If I need to get up, I'm getting up." Then I declared, "You know what I would say to that person in the aisle if he has a problem? Next time, get a window seat."

Hmmpf.

It's funny how people always say they hate flying, until they fly first class.

I've flown something other than Coach only once in my life. I totally felt like I didn't belong. Even though they gave me unlimited apple juice in a real glass. I got excited and jumped up and down on the seat, and had to be calmed down.

I should mention I was 25 at the time.

Nice work teahouse! I flew first class once as well (agreed to get bumped just before xmas, got that and a ticket in return), and I got on the plane in my classic "college student" outfit: long sleeved tshirt, ripped jeans, and a baseball hat. (I should mention I'm 28, and I still wear this outfit on a regular basis in the spring and fall.) I was quite unkempt, having stayed up very late the night before. As soon as I sat down, the woman next to me looked me over and said, "First time in first class?" I didn't belong either, but boy did I have fun with it. And the crew thought I was hysterical because every time they did something nice to me I acted like it was a gift from the gods. =)

I could've sworn I posted something here already, but here I go again.

I was upgraded to business class one time and it was pure heaven! I know how you feel!

And I also remember the time when my dad bribed me with a first-class ticket, just to go back home to the Philippines :) Who can pass that?

Window seat is the way to go! I like it for the exact same reason. More comfortable for sleeping. When you use your premier status to board early, you can always snag a pillow before they are all gone.

On long flights, i find an aisle seat more comfortable, just because you can get up to walk around and go the bathroom more easily. But, there's nothing like sitting in the cargo hold. So airy, so much leg room ^_~

LOL - I will have to remember that line.

No way to window seats (unless it's a half-empty flight)! I get so claustrophobic. The bad thing about aisles, though, is getting your elbow whacked by the drink cart, and those pesky people in the window seats who are always getting up to go to the bathroom... ;)

lol! Window seats are the bomb. I've taken a liking to actually climbing over other people on my way out - stepping on the arm rests and everything.
