You're Gonna Break A Toe

Tonight at the gym, some moron was wearing flip-flops.

I wanted to drop a weight on his foot to show him how dangerous that is. He was doing a full lifting work out, not just a stop over at the weights on his way back from yoga or something. I hope someone told him to put on some shoes.

Then again, it's a bit disturbing that instead of kindly educating him on the hazard of wearing flip-flops in the gym, I had a desire to take the barbaric route and show him by example.

From Jayne: The good news is that you did not follow your barbaric instincts. Full weights in flip flops? I am surprised they did not kick him out or ask him to put on shoes, but as he is likely now a candidate for plantar fasciitis, perhaps this is simply survival of the fittest. (Says she who worked in the garden in flip flops and moved 2 cu. ft. bags of mulch around and is now recovering from said malady.)

Oh, god, I can't even tell you how much I wish pain on people like that. Even if you did "try to educate" him on why he should be wearing shoes, he won't listen. Which is why I think having him split open his foot and have it bleed profusely while he writhes in pain is a much better way of showing why you should wear protective footwear.

At the very least some kind of withering insult about covering those hideous toenails.

I don't know that even in shoes heavy weights would offer much protection. Maybe you should have tried dropping one on you and one on him to see. That way you can get out your aggression while not having to feel guilty.

Ugh, I hate urban 20-and-30-something guys in flip flops.

Um, mr or ms. anonymous commenter...I didn't have any aggression to let out. You're not getting the point. The point is that it's dangerous to wear flip-flops in the gym.
